Save the Pastoralists' Initiative (SPIN) — a platform for pastoralists to actively participate in and drive their own development.
SPIN was formed to create a platform to interact with pastoralists to participate in their development, promote indigenous knowledge in natural resources development and management, resilience building in the face of climate change, support pastoralists education and good governance, and promotes nature based solutions for climate change mitigation. It was formed to pursue this mission in 2012.

SPIN was formed in 2012 to create a platform to interact with pastoralists to participate in their development, promote indigenous knowledge in natural resources development and management, and support pastoralists' education and good governance.
Following stakeholders' demand, SPIN has started conducting innovative community-based livelihood improvement programs with the Ministries of Education, Natural Resource Development, Agriculture, Livestock Development, Gender and Social Development among others.

Communities own and drive their own development — building lasting resilience and contributing to the wellbeing of pastoral communities across Northern Kenya.
Where SPIN operates
SPIN's programs are directly embedded within pastoralist households, government structures, and community networks across Marsabit County and the wider Northern Kenya arid region.
In order to address the expressed developmental constraints, SPIN works across Education, Good Governance and Leadership, Natural Resource Management, and Climate-related disaster management.
